About This Item

Akron, Ohio: Saalfield Publishing Company, 1932. First, Thus . Hardcover. Very Good+/Very Good-. One of a series of post-WWI adventure series aimed at YA boys that featured young men solving mysteries. Similar to books produced by the Stratemeyer syndicate, these Saalfield books were produced from 1900-1977 by a stable of writers. Van Powell was a screenwriter who also wrote three different series of boys' adventure books. This title, first published in 1932 as part of his "Sky Scouts" series, was reissued as part of his "Air Mystery" series. This is the First Edition in that format (First, thus). in 280 pages, plain frontispiece. Hardcover small 8vo has deep blue cloth-covered boards lettered in black to front & spine. Condition is VG+: exceptionally clean & crisp with mild mottling to outside fore edge. Binding strong & straight, rear hinge cracked. Old gift inscription dated 1957 & former owner's name in pen to ffep, else, pages unmarked, but heavily tanned, commensurate with age & paper quality of the era. The unclipped DJ is VG-, with a noticeable chip at top of spine-front cover interface & smaller chips, slight rubbing to other edges; beautifully protected in new clear mylar cover for your collection!
