About This Item
Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1984. Book. Fine. Hardcover. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. Large format hardcover in black cloth, lettered in gold, in publisher's non price-clipped dust-jacket. 32 pages. Introduction by author/artist Chris Van Allsburg. Illustrated with 14 drawings, printed on rectos, with facing versos containing the title and brief descriptive caption. The pictures were purportedly brought to a publisher some thirty years ago, meant to illustrate 14 children's stories. The artist left them and never returned, hence the mystery and the lingering question, just what were these stories about. No previous ownership marks. A clean, square, fresh and unmarked copy, like new. Fine in a fine dust-jacket. .
Synopsis
Fourteen black-and-white drawings, each accompanied by a title and a caption, entice readers to make up his or her own story.
