About This Item
Athens: Metaichmio, 2010. Bilingual (Greek-English) book + CD. Soft cover, 24 cm, 40 pp., ill.
Describes the facial reconstruction of an 11-old girl died during the Peloponnesian War in ancient Athens, 430 B.C. Myrtis is the name given by archaeologists to this 11-year-old girl, whose remains were discovered in 1994–95 in a mass grave. The analysis showed that Myrtis and two other bodies in the mass grave had died of typhoid fever during the Plague of Athens in 430 BCE.
