London: Gadsby, 1881. Later printing, Stereotyped edition, Revised. Hardcover. poor to vg. Octavo. 594, [30], 546, [6], 10, [2]pp. Original blind-stamped cloth with gold lettering on spines. Fascinating work being an account of the author's first, second and third visits to the East (first volume), and the author's fourth and fifth visits to the East (second volume). It is profusely illustrated with 1 large color-outlined folding map and numerous in-text and full page wood engravings. Age-wear on bindings with front board of first volume partly detached, head and tail of spines partly chipped, rubbing on covers, corners and along edges. Spines age-toned. Book block of first volume detached from binding. Previous owner's inscription on free front endpaper of first volume and dated 1890. Several leaves detached in first volume (but present). Minor and sporadic creasing on pages. Binding of first volume in poor, interior of same volume in good condition. Binding of second volume in fair to good-, interior in very good condition.
