London, New York, Melbourne: Ward, Lock & Co., Limited, 1902. A late-career mystery by the popular Australian novelist. This is a Very Good copy of the First English Editio, published a year after the American issue [Hubin, p. 41]. Beveled blue cloth binding with titling and decorations (featuring a coiled-to-strike snake) in gilt on the spine and front cover. Cean text; 315 pages, with a four-page publisher catalog in the rear. Frontis illustration and six others within by Harold Piffard. Previous-owner signature on both the front paste-down and the FFEP, along with the date "1902." The binding is very close to Fine but the endpapers are tanned and there is spotting to the title page and occasionally within. In an archival plastic protector.. First UK Edition. Decorative Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. Illus. by Harold Piffard. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
