London, T.C. & E.C. Jack, 1914 Hardcover book , first edition - no dustjacket. Signed by E.A. Bowles and dated 1949 to half-title page. Enclosed is a letter from the donator of the book as a gift and recommending that the recipient get it signed! Edward Augustus Bowles was a British horticulturalist, plantsman and garden writer. He developed an important garden at Myddelton House near Enfield, Middlesex , He was known as 'The Crocus King and his name has been preserved in many varieties of plant . He was the Great Uncle of Andrew Parker-Bowles , Queen Camilla's ex husband. Complete with the 16 colour plates and all monocrome plates. The book is in Good condition but is worn around the edges with some rubbing to corners and the cloth parting along darkened spine edges. Previous owners bookplate inside front cover with owners name in pencil opposite. pages are foxed , lightly to some and heavier to others. A worn copy but scarce with E.A.Bowles signature. The two companion volumes My Garden in Summer and My Garden in Autumn and Winter are also available from David Ford Books. These are not signed. Pictures available.
