About This Item
Boston: Lee & Shepard, 1883 Book. Illus. by Unknown. Good Plus. Hardcover. Partial Reprint of 1833 First Edition.. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. This unusual book features only the first hymn by the young poet of Boston, Ray Palmer. By chance it was published by Mason in 1833 to the tune of Olivet. I sang it frequently as a young Methodist, about 70 years ago. Choice engravings, esp. the last - a butterfly emerged from its chrysalis. Severe gutter crack glued. Wear to head and foot of spine. All edges gilt. Engraver unidentified, but noted in other listings of a later, 1884, edition. Green cloth on beveled boards. 16 pp. only..
