Nattali and Bond. London. No Date.,Circa 1850. THREE VOLUMES. Tall 8vo (10.2 x 6.6 inches). Text and plates taken from the Ninth edition. Complete set of this famous trilogy, with 80 fine hand-coloured, full page, aquatint plates, the colouring still strong and bright, by Thomas Rowlandson. Some minor spots of foxing to a few leaves in each volume but generally clean and bright copies in the scarce original publisher's brown cloth bindings, with gilt lettering and decoration on spines. Decorative blind stamped panels on boards. Original yellow coated endpapers. Previous owners bookplates to front paste downe endpapers. Some rubbing to top and tail of spines and fore-edges, and a couple of the hinges with neatly repaired splits (about 1.5 inches) but generally these are very good examples. Slight uniform fading to spines but overall a very attractive set of this classic work with Rowlandson's humourous plates. Uncommon in the publishers original decorative cloth bindings.:

Portrait frontispiece in volume one engraved by Heath after the painting by Sir Joshua Reynolds and dated January 1st, 1799. A very good clean set. Finely bound in period style mid twentieth century full brown calf. Boards with single gilt ruled borders. Spines with double ruled gilt bands and lettering. Gilt inner dentelles. Marbled endpapers with a neat previous owners bookplate mounted in each volume. All edges marbled. An attractive copy.

Longmans, Green, And Co. London. 1885. FIRST EDITION. Small 8vo. (6.4 x 4.5 inches). A bright and clean copy throughout with just a little browning to both free endpapers. Armorial bookplate on front paste down. Publishers original blue cloth binding. Boards with bevelled edges. Small gilt stamped publishers device to front board. Spine ruled and lettered in gilt. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. Minor rubbing and darkening to the cloth edges but overall a very good copy.

Jonathan Cape. London. 1935. FIRST TRADE EDITION. 4to. Illustrated throughout with portraits, maps, plans and line drawings. Finely bound in recent full tan morocco, raised bands, gilt. Twin red labels, gilt. Single gilt decorative roll border on boards. Top edge gilt. A few light finger marks but overall a very good, bright copy.

Hodder and Stoughton Ltd. London. No Date. circa 1922. EARLY EDITION, with extra colour plate. 8vo. (7.5 x 6 inches). Complete, and with one more illustration than the original 1911 edition. Full colour illustrated frontispiece mounted onto grey art paper and with a tissue guard, decorative mono title page and twelve full page mono plates by Bedford. Internally this is a very good, bright and clean copy, in an attractive early half leather binding by Sangorski and Sutcliffe, of London, for E. P. Dutton & Company, New York. Half dark green calf. Spine with raised bands, each with gilt piping. Compartments fully decorated and ruled in gilt. Twin burgundy labels, ruled, decorated and lettered in gilt. Marbled paper on boards. Top edge gilt. Marbled endpapers. Off white silk bookmark. Rubbing to the outer layer of the leather on the binding edges, particularly the hinge on the lower board, but both hinges still firm and strong and still an attractive binding. Copy number 61 of just 92 copies reserved for La Librairie des Éditions, out of 189 copies in the total edition. A fine copy with the page edges still uncut. Publishers white paper wraps printed in blue and black. Original glassine around the wraps. A lovely copy, and scarce in such nice condition, of the first printing of Beckett's translation. Although written during 1944, Watt wasn't published until 1953 and it was another 15 years before he completed this much anticipated French translation.

Chapman & Hall. London. 1952-61. FIRST EDITION. Three volumes. 8vo. Fine, clean copies finely bound in recent full dark blue morocco, spines with five raised bands, the compartments ruled, decorated and lettered in gilt. Single gilt ruled border to boards. All edges gilt. A fine set.

Macmillan and Co. Ltd. London. 1905. Reprint. 8vo. (6.1 x 4.1 inches). Finely bound, by Bumpus of London, in attractive early full dark green crushed morocco, extra gilt. The spine with raised bands, ruled in gilt. Compartments fully ruled, decorated and lettered in gilt. Elaborate Persian fan design to boards. Inner Dentelles fully decorated in gilt, surrounding red Moire silk centre pieces. Silk endpapers. All edges gilt. Previous owner's neat 4 line inscription, dated 1909, to front blank endpaper. The binding is a little rubbed to the extremities, ths spine faded to a uniform brown colour and the silk endpapers have some minor fraying to the edges but overall this is a highly decorative fine quality leather binding in very good condition.

The first three volumes are the first printing of these reprints using the original stereotype plates from the original First editions which were published between 1843 and 1848. The last two volumes are reprints from one year later, dated 1887.---- Five volumes. 8vo. (6.9 x 4.5 inches). The volumes are illustrated throughout by many different artists including, Leech, Doyle, Tenniel and Maclise. ---- Publishers red cloth with gilt lettering and decoration to all five front boards and spines. Blind single ruled border on boards. Endpapers featuring printed adverts. Minor bumping to the corners but overall a very near fine set . The cloth is bright and clean and the gilt fresh and gleaming on all five books. A beautiful set in superior condition and scarce thus.

Beautifully illustrated with 8 full colour plates and 95 listed line drawings in the text, many full page, plus a few small vignettes, not in the list of illustrations. Marbled endpapers. Top edge gilt. Original illustrated front board and spine bound in. Some offsetting to the half title and the last text page but generally a very good clean and bright copy throughout in an attractive leather binding.
