Kingsville, TX: King Ranch, Inc., 1993. First Edition . Soft cover. Near Fine. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Edited, Annotated with an Introduction and Commentary by Bruse S. Cheeseman. Signed by him on half title page. Hiram Chamberlain was a Presbyterian minister who brought the first protestant church to the lower Rio Grande region of Texas. His daughter, Henrietta King, tassumed ownership of the King Ranch after her husband, Richard's death in 1885. She increased the size of the ranch,once known as the largest in the world, and saw to the welfare and education of the families who lived on the ranch. One of only 400 copies printed by noted Texas bookman Thomas Taylor with high production values.103 pp + Epilogue and colophon on last page. Small quarto, 7-1/2"W X 10-1/2"H. Minor edge wear and small brown spot on lower edge of front panel and small mark on spine beneath title.Very scarce.
