About This Item
New York: Little Brown & Co., 2004. First Edition, First Printing. . Hardcover. Fine/Near Fine. Mosley, perhaps best known for his Easy Rawlins mystery-detective novels, is a master writer no matter what the genre. This book is top flight in two or three genres. It begins in Los Angeles when the man at Charles Blakely's door has a very strange proposition for Blakely. Anniston Bennett, a white man, wants to spend the summer in Blakely's cellar. Blakely is black. He is unemployed and behind on his mortgage payments. There is something wrong about Bennett but his money will be very welcome. Blakely accepts, Bennett moves in and there begins an unusual relationship between two men, each of them having many questions for the other. Boards and text are clean and unmarked, tight and square, not remaindered. The dustjacket has no more than a touch of edgewear, no tears, no creasing or chipping, not price-clipped. Collectable.
