BCE Hardcover, 1952 Little, Brown, Publishers 376 pages, Very Good+ in a VG DJ (despite the stated First Edition, the unclipped DJ has no price and we believe that this is an exceptional Book Club edition). Minor shelf/edge wear and rubbing to DJ-now in mylar. Just a touch of shelf/edge wear to edges of two-tone Blue and Tan cloth boards-corners sharp. No notes/writing-all pages are bright, clean and crisp with the exception of the half-title page and its opposite where there is a darkening caused by a laid in obituary of the author. The origin of the horse in Western America and the breed that evolved. A magnificent book that serves as a monument to the wild and free horses that once roamed the American West, the noted author estimates that Texas alone had over a million with another million over the remainder of the West.
