Publisher's red card stock wrappers with black spine and upper panel lettering, octavo, pp. 64. Frontis illustration of George Wythe (a Virginia signer of the Declaration of Independence). Shelf and handling wear and random abrasions on the wrappers. Some foxing, and a faint old price shadow on the free front end-paper. Slight dye run from rear wrapper at lower fore-edges only of final two leaves (none internally in margins or text). About GOOD condition, withal. Essays reprinted from William and Mary Quarterly, Third Series, Volume XII, Number 4, October, 1955.
