About This Item

Gretna, LA: Pelican Publishing, 1983. Early Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 5 3/4 X 8 5/8 Inches. 287 PP. "One of the best crime trial recreations ever written..." Chicago Sun Times

Early printing copy featuring the DJ photo of Johnny Cash on the rear cover. Lenghty inscription by author to biographer Virginia Carr of Columbia College on the FFEP. In part, "Good luck on the publication of Dos Passos", which took some time, but was finally completed and published by Northwestern in 2004. Carr is also the author of noted biographies on Carson McCullers and Paul Bowles. Basis for the CBS TV movie starring Johnny Cash and Andy Griffith. The book recounts the trial and conviction of John Wallace, the first white man in Georgia to be convicted on testimony given by the testimony of two black men. Wallace was executed for the murder of Wilson Turner in 1950. A few spots to gutters and some foxing to endpapers. A NICE ASSOCIATION COPY!
