New York: Dial Books for Young Readers, 1983. First edition. 8vo, 168pp. Quarter dark blue cloth over light blue paper boards, jacket with wraparound illustration by Edward Gorey. Toning to edges of boards, top edge lightly foxed, former owner's name and date to ffep else nearly fine. Jacket with some toning to flaps and light wear at corners. Trade edition with lower corner clipped and original price of $11.95 in tact. First printing of this second book in the Johnny Dixon series from Bellairs, released the same year as The Curse of the Blue Figurine. Beautiful jacket artwork by Edward Gorey, and uncommon in this condition.
