Octavo, xvi, 749pp. Blue cloth, title in gilt over black on spine and front panel. Stated "First Printing" on copyright page. Frontispiece portrait of Robert Taft opposite title page. In publishers first edition dust jacket, $12.50 on front flap, light wear along top edge of spine, otherwise bright illustrations and vibrant colors. Signed by Bob Taft Junior to Ohio Congressman John B. Hollister. Inscription reads: "To John Hollister. Who hired me! Bob Taft Jr. November 1, 1972." Robert Taft was the son of Senator Robert A. Taft and grandson of President William H. Taft. This book, about his father, was met with great critical praise and is considered one of the definitive histories of Robert A. Taft. The recipient of this book, John B. Hollister was elected to congress in a special election to fill the vacant seat of Nicholas Longworth.
