First edition and printing from this publisher. In good plus tan pictorial cloth boards with man speaking into old phone and black titles. The book block is coming away from the boards from tail edge and is a little loose. The boards are quite clean; spine ends and corners bumped and frayed. Slightly tanned free end papers; name of previous owner on front free end paper. Webbing from spine visible from front end papers. Tiny yellow sticker from School Publishing Co, Booksellers, Darlington, on rear paste down. Brown tinted top cut edge; the fore and tail edges are slightly tanned. The text block is firm, flat and quite clean - very good minus condition - with 15 colour plates by Peter Newell. Two marks on page 9. Overall condition is good due to condition of boards. Without jacket.
