New York: Bernard Geis, 1960. Author's Edition. Hardcover. Very good + condition. Presentation copy, inscribed "from Harry Truman with kindest regards and best wishes. Independence, August 18, 1960". This is the Author's Edition, of which only 100 copies were issued, to be given by President Truman to friends and family members.
President Truman's memoirs concerning the period from the end of his presidency in 1953 until his death in 1972. Truman's retirement years in Independence were devoted to developing the Truman Library, teaching young people American history and government, traveling, serving as an elder statesman, and writing.
8vo, 315pp, b&w photographic illustrations. Quarter brown morocco and patterned boards with two gilt labels at the spine. Top edge stained red, title page printed in red and black. Gilt label at front board "Author's Edition". In the pictorial slipcase. OCLC: 623468778 records one copy at the University of Texas at Austin.
