About This Item

Englewood Cliffs, NJ Prentice-Hall , 1966. Hardcover First Edition (1964); Ninth Printing (1971). Near Fine in Very Good+ DJ: The Book shows a tiny snag in the fabric of the orange cloth over boards at the bottom edge of the front panel; just a touch of wear to the extremities otherwise; former owner's gift inscription and a small accompanying drawing at the upper corner of the front free endpaper; the binding is square and secure; the text is clean. Free of creased or dog-eared pages in the text. Free of underlining, hi-lighting, notations, or marginalia. A handsome copy, structurally sound and tightly bound, showing mild wear and minor, unobtrusive imperfections. The DJ shows just a hint of wear to the extremities, but there is loss to tiny chips at the head of the backstrip and a one-inch, closed tear at the top of the front panel; else only mild rubbing and a little faint soiling to the orange background field of the rear panel; the price has been clipped; mylar-protected. Remains attractive, but not without flaw. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. Royal 8vo. (9.45 x 7.25 x 0.4 inches). 30 pages. Illustrated in color by the author. Language: English. Weight: 10.5 ounces. Age Level: 4 - 9 years. First Edition (1964); Ninth Printing (1971). Hardback with DJ. One of my all-time favorite illustrated books, first when I was a child I used to devour it in the library. I always knew exactly where this book was in the library. Now as a father, I read it to my little ones who love it too. Beautiful watercolor illustrations to go with a great story: when Halloween is past, some children place a carved pumpkin at the edge of the woods hoping a mouse will make a home inside it.. Mousekins, does find it and rides out the cold months in the comforts of his jack-o-lantern. Very sweet story and lovely watercolor illustrations. I love the whole Mousekin series, but this one is the finest of them all. It brings back so many warm childhood memories.
