London: Faber and Faber. 1969. First UK edition, first printing. First UK edition, first printing. Original green cloth with gilt titles to the spine, in dustwrapper. Illustrated with black and white line drawings by Lillian Hoban. A fine copy, the binding square and firm, the cloth bright and fresh. The contents are clean throughout, the closed text block edge ever so slightly spotted. Complete with the lightly rubbed, nicked and creased dustwrapper with has two tiny closed tears at the head of the slightly toned spine and a few small ink marks on the upper panel. Not price-clipped (21s / £1.05 on the front flap). A classic of children's literature about the adventures of a pair of wind-up mouse toys.
