A 255 page work with a preface, prologue, eight chapters, an epilogue, a bibliography and an index. There is an appendix that consists of a summary of ascents and near ascents during the period from 1852-1894. Interior of book is clean & binding is tight. Dust jacket is protected in an archival quality cover. Dust jacket is price-clipped and there is edgewear at top and bottom of the spine plus a couple of small tears along edges. This work is a classic in the field. And as such, is a serious work, intended for something more than mere entertainment. A nice copy; available for immediate shipment, carefully packed in a sturdy box.
