Pasadena, CA: Upton Sinclair, 1930. 1st edition. Hardcover. pp. 399. Small 8vo. Near fine condition. Original dust jacket present and is lightly chipped, with very light soiling, else g/vg condition. 'Jed Rusher was born in a hut in the cattle-country, and while he crawled about in the muck of the sugar-beet fields, wielding a heavy 'topping knife', he dreamed of ease and power, the flame of greatness burned in his soul. This is the edition published by the author, and encased in the original dust jacket. This title was also published by Albert & Charls Boni in the same year. Gottesman, in 'Upton Sinclair / An Annotated Checklist', A1250 does not note priority of publition.
