New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1948. First edition. Hardcover. Near fine/near fine. 373pp. Duodecimo [19.5 cm] in grey cloth stamped in green. Small piece of paper with Cain's signature laid in. Light edgewear to jacket, small torn perforation to jacket spine at foot; corners bumped, else boards are crisp and unworn; interior is unmarked. A lesser-known work by the author of The Butterfly and Mildred Pierce.
