San Francisco: Beach Books, Texts, & Documents, 1967. First edition. Paperback. Martin Beebe. White and black printed sheet folded into a slim octavo [22 cm]. In very good plus condition, with age-toning. Photograph by Martin Beebe. Co-owner, founder and editor of City Lights Books, Lawrence Ferlinghetti was awarded the National Book Award nomination in 1970 for The Secret Meaning of Things, a Silver Medal for poetry by Commonwealth Club of California in 1986 for Over All the Obscene Boundaries, and a poetry prize by the city of Rome in 1993. In addition, the city of San Francisco named a street in his honor, and he was named first Poet Laureate of San Francisco in 1998.
