Macmillan, London, 1993. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. Signed by Author(s). 1st Edition. First Edition (first printing). This copy signed by the author on the title page, and additionally inscribed to an un-named recipient ("Every best wish "). 8vo. 240pp. Black boards lettered in gold at the spine. Ribbon place marker. Top edge spotted, and with just a trace of further spotting to the fore edge. Very good in very good price-clipped dust wrapper. The author's first collection of short fiction; ten stories, five of them featuring Inspector Morse, with one Sherlock Holmes pastiche, and his Macavity Award-winning story 'Evans Tries an O-Level'. This collection was subsequently published as a paperback in the US under the title 'As Good as Gold' (that edition included one further Morse story, which provided the name of the collection)..
