Bound in burgundy leatherette boards with title and author stamped in gilt on the top board and spine. The text is an exact facsimile of the original 1868 publication by John Lovell, the author. It contains; the original adverts at the beginning and end of the text; an index to advertisers business; a classified directory to the advertisers business; and, the same information for subscribers business. About half the book contains the alphabetical listings of the citizens of Montreal in 1868. The information for each listing includes; name of person or business, street address, and, in many cases, occupation of the person. The rest of the book contains the street directory. And, for this section the information includes; street name and number, occupant, and occupation, or business. And finally, there is the miscellaneous directory with details of government addresses, type of government agency, private clubs, lawyers, banks, hospitals, churches, military establishments, associations of various types. A near fine copy with no markings or extraneous notes in the text.
