NY: Alfred A. Knopf 1975, 1975. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Hard Cover. Very Good/Poor. 1975 Knopf First Edition. This book is in VG+/VG+ condition. The HB is absolutely clean and unmarked with bright green top paper edges. The DJ is price-clipped and has virtually no wear. Updike's picture on the rear flyleaf is dated 2/75. In addition receive the 1975 Knopf Second printing of Picked-Up Pieces, another Updike collection of stories. This book is in VG/VG condition. The HB is very clean and unmarked save for a small remaineder "x" on the bottom page edges. The DJ is not price-clipped. Thereis a fold on the inside fly leaf and the back flyleaf is dated 11/75. Synopsis

John Updike was born in Shillington, Pennsylvania, in 1932. He graduated from Harvard College in 1954 and spent a year in Oxford, England, at the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art. From 1955 to 1957 he was a member of the staff of The New Yorker . His novels have won the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award, the National Book Critics Circle Award, the Rosenthal Foundation Award, and the William Dean Howells Medal. In 2007 he received the Gold Medal for Fiction from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. John Updike died in January 2009.
