London: John Murray, 1821. First Edition under the title of Monks and Demons, and including Cantos III & IV. The poem was published in 1813, in two cantos, two additional cantos were added in 1818.. In style and stanza, Frere's "Specimen" was imitated in Byron's Beppo, and is thus regarded as a seminal influence on Byron's Don Juan. CONDITION Half leather bound with leather spine and corner and marbled bds, bright gilt tooling and title to spine, Pp 119. Leather rubbed to extremities, bds scuffed, some small chips but mostly nice, name inside front, copy is mostly bright and very crisp with atmospheric spotting at ends and odd mark internally.. 4th Edition. Hard Cover. Good. 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall.
