From the library of Newbold Noyes, editor of the Washington Evening Star, Noyes was an ambulance driver during World War II and then foreign correspondent for the Star, covering American troops in Italy and reporting on the invasion of southern France and the Allied advance into Germany. The Washington Evening Star was a liberal Republican newspaper, now extinct, once rival to the Washington Post. Buckley's eighth Blackford Oakes novel. In 1963, Oakes is again in Cuba now working to overthrow Castro after the Cuban missile crisis. VG in VG dj.
