About This Item

New York: Simon & Schuster, 2002. First Edition, First Printing. . Hardcover. Very Good/Near Fine. The 25th and final novel of Hunter, perhaps best known for his early "The Blackboard Jungle" and his script for Hitchcock's film, "The Birds," in a career that spanned 50 years and in which, as Ed McBain, he wrote the bestselling 87th Precinct crime-thriller series that set the standard for all future police procedural novels. His last book is the story of a New York family forced to confront its collective secrets as they search desperately to find a mentally ill daughter who is a habitual runaway. Signed and inscribed by Hunter on the title page. A shallow dent in the upper edge of the front cover and a tiny dent in the lower edge of the back cover, neither particularly noticeable, o/w boards and text are free of damage, clean and unmarked, tight and square, not remaindered. The dustjacket shows a small crease at the spot of the front cover dent, o/w no tears or chipping, not price-clipped. A collectable copy of the late work of a legendary American writer.
