London: Walter Scott, Limited, 1893. Irish novelist George Moore (1852-1933) also had an artistic bent (motivated, he admitted, by his sensual feelings toward the female model); as an art critic he was influential, and was one of the first to popularize the Impressionists in "Modern Painting." This is a Very Good copy of the First Edition. Red cloth binfing with gilt lettering on the spine. Clean text; 248 pages, with 24 pages of publisher's adverts in the rear. Corners bumped; rubbing at head and foot of spine. Two bookplates; contemporary armorial on the front paste-down, and a later one on the FFEP. A solid copy of an important work on the modern canon. As a small bonus, laid-in is a vintage bookmark from an English bookseller. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. First Edition.. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket.
