About This Item

Mowbray, London & Oxford, 1984. First Edition. Softcover. Very Good Condition. there is no damage to describe. The book looks at the various forms of church art, carving, painting, pottery, sculpture, mosaic painting et cetera. Perhaps the only area that it fails to cover is that of embroidery and tapestry. The main aim of the book is to show the importance of the visual arts to our experience of Christianity and it is the author's hope that will help the reader extended his knowledge of Christian artistic heritage into the present century and also deepen his awareness of the signs and symbols which point to the glory of God. 40 colour plates and many black-and-white photographs taken by the author. The book includes a gazetteer of churches where modern works of art can be found, and an index. – Paraphrasing the rear panel blurb There is at the top of the 1st page the remains of a price sticker with associated abrasion. No other damage to detail. Size: 4to 9¾" - 12" tall. 92 pages. Please refer to accompanying picture (s). Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilo.
