David Eldred Holt, son of a wealthy plantation owner in Wilkinson County, Mississippi, enlisted with Company K of the Mississippi Regiment and spent his military career in the northern Virginia theater. Later in his life he wrote his memoirs, recalling his privileged childhood, and his experiences as a common soldier during the Civil War. Holt saw most of the major campaigns and battles of Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia and his battle descriptions rank among the most graphic, dramatic, and poignant accounts written by any participant in the war. Book Condition is Fine, along with the jacket, is in as new condition. Tight and clean, unread. 354 pages, Second Edition first printing. Illustrations, bibliographical notes, index.
