Hardcover Quarto Book in Very Good Condition with Fair Dust Jacket in Archival Protective Cover. Tan cloth spine with sharp and bright gilt titles, sage green cloth boards, very clean and unmarked, edges faintly rubbed; sewn binding is tight, solid and square. St.Martin's College book plate on paste-down and faint stamped name on free endpaper. Internals in Fine Condition. Title pager and recto with medieval illustration on grey-green. Portrayals of Chaucer, his friends and asscoiates, the poets he admired, the places he knew are followed by photographs and large numbers of medieval miniatures showing scenes, persons, and things to which Chaucer refers. Among them are many of the Pilgrims and their Tales. There are 179 monotone historic contemporary ilustrations accompanied by indications of sources and dates and often by explanatory and reference material. They are mainly from the period 1340-1415. The jacket is edgworn, torn at some corners, with green border on top, with medievasl illustration, and protected with archival cover. 179 pages plus index of figures. 8.75 x 11.25 inches. 1964, Princeton University Press, Princeton, NJ.
