About This Item

London: John Sharpe, 1823. Hardback. Very Good/No Jacket. 232 12mo. With engravings from the designs of Richard Westall. 'The Minstrel' was Beattie's most successful poem, praised by Samuel Johnson. Condition notes: Re-backed (not recently), with original blind-stamped calf, gilt decoration, relaid and with new spine strip. The calf is chipped and rubbed. A sound, clean copy overall, but with a little foxing and occasional staining. Some but not all tissue guards to engravings intact.
