About This Item

Americana 029 Cash, W. J. (Wilbur Joseph), 1900-1941. The mind of the South. New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1941, 4 p., 1., vii-xi, 429, xv p., index. First edition, so stated on the verso of the title page. The book itself is in very good, nice condition. The dust jacket has some small tears and chipping but in good, solid shape. This, the first edition of one of the great books in American historiography is very difficult to find in the first edition. It is still being reprinted all these years later. Sadly, the author committed suicide the year the book came out. $100.00

Of time and frontiers ; Of the man at the center; Of an ideal and conflict -- The mind of the South: its curious career in the middle years.
