New York: D. Appleton & Company, 1865. Hardcover. Octavo, x, 843 pages. In Fair plus condition. Spine is brown with gold print on black banner, raised bands. Boards in tan leather. Wear to spine caps and corners, torn hinges, scuffing, small stains on spine and front. Text block has marbled edges and endpapers. Cracked hinges, name in ink on front endpaper. Illustrated: "With steel plate portraits", b&w frontispiece and maps.
