About This Item
London: Michael Joseph, 1969. John Wyndham (1903-1969) is the thinking man's science fiction writer; his prose is always elegant! Probably his most famous novel was "The Day of the Triffids," but this one is close behind. Both were made into films. Originally published in 1957, this is a Very Good (Minus) copy of the Ninth Impression (May 1969). Dark brown cloth binding with gilt lettering on the spine. Clean text; 239 pages. While unmarked, the pages show rather ham-handed prior readers; no doubt this is from its prior life as a library copy (the only treatment is a faint stamp on the top page-edge). Cocked, and with tape residue on front and rear covers. The dustjacket is clipped, showing minor edgewear and a rub on the lower spine affecting the publisher's logo. In an archival plastic protector. Not a real beauty, but a solid copy for readers or impecunious collectors. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Later Printing.. Hard Cover. Very Good Minus/Very Good.
