Near Fine in Near Fine dust jacket. 2008. Hardcover. The life of this Owosso, Michigan businessman, industrial innovator, and philanthropist who was born in 1903 and owned the Mitchell-Bentley Corporation as well as a 50% ownership of Creative Industries in Detroit . Over the years Mitchell built a large manufacturing operation in Owosso that eventually provided station wagon bodies for General Motors starting with wood bodies in 1942 for Buick and culminating in hundreds of thousands of all metal bodies for Buick, Oldsmobile, Mercury and Lincoln between 1954 and 1964--including the classic Mark II Lincoln Continental and the fiberglass 1961 Corvette. A fascinating story of an innovative and successful Michigan entrepreneur who rose from humble beginnings. This is the first hardcover edition (a paperback edition was published in 2003). No publisher or place of publication is listed in the book. A nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings. Dust jacket in similarly nice condition with no chips, tears, or markings. This book appears to have been unread. ; B&W Illustrations; 8vo, 8"- 9" tall; 175 pages .
