Hard cover in good condition with dark burnt orange boards with black lettering on spine and front board. Shows shelf & edge wear, age toning and dust soiling. Muddy beige end papers. Bookstore sticker at bottom left of ffp, ""Bought at THE PILGRIM PRESS, 14 Beacon St., Boston"" with oval of picture of a Pilgrim. Size 1 1/4"" x 5/8"". FFp attached to front board pastedown but detached from spine. Half title page shows ghost discoloration of what appears to be printed paper/ bookmark laid in (no longer present.) Interior text block clean & tight, no writing, no markings. 296 numbered pages showing mellow age toning. From the author at beginning of Preface, ""This is a volume not so much of history as of interpretation. it is surprising, and from time to time it threatens to become tragic, that so little is know by their immediate neighbors of Mexico and Mexicans.....""
