About This Item
Roma (Rome): Francesco Bourlie, 1830. Edizione Seconda (Second edition). Hardcover. Very Good. 1830, Edizione Seconda (Second edition). Italian text. 16, 510 pp. Tissue-covered engraved frontis portrait of the author. Hardcover, 4to. (8.5 x 11.5 inches), in full red morocco with gilt borders and design, aeg, raised bands and gilt title on spine. Not mentioned, but likely a large paper edition as there's a smaller version that it much more common. Very Good. Minor marginal foxing, mostly contained to the first and last 20 pages. Stray purple ink marks to the margin of the frontis. Sound binding. Light scuffing along the outer hinges and corners of the leather; front outer hinge has been restrengthened with glue. Two old bookplates (the late businessman Francis H. Clergue and H. T. M. Blitham) affixed to the front pastedown and one small ink note there as well. A beautiful example of a period Italian binding.
