"Light-Horse Harry" Lee commanded the cavalry in Nathaniel Greene's army of the south in a dashing manner, protecting his maneuvers and engaging in many skirmishes with Tarleton. Howes L-202. Sabin 39742 (quoting Chancellor Kent): "Lee's memoirs are very interesting and as fascinating as a romance, though they undoubtedly contain true history." American Imprints 29469. Gephart 13816. Bookplate on each front pastedown, lacks front blank endpaper in each volume, else very good (with defects noted). Contemporary flame calf (rubbed, corners bumped, some erosion along one joint), gilt rules and leather label on spines. (9376).
