About This Item
N.p.: Robert C. Swain, 1983. Hardcover. 8vo. Blue cloth with silver lettering and rules. xiv, 187pp. Illustrations. Fine. Pristine first edition of this self-published memoir, bearing a bold presentation inscription and signature in black ballpoint on front flyleaf: "To: / Bob Malott / With best regards. / Bob Swain / Aug. 1983." Swain (1907-89) was a noted research chemist who worked his way up to the presidency of Cyanamid International. Robert Malott (1926-2018) was a noted Chicago civic and business leader, CEO of FMC Corporation, Republican politico and philanthropist. No doubt Swain befriended Malott through the Hoover Institution on War, Revolution and Peace in Stanford, California, where both served on the board of overseers.
