Edinburgh: Adam and Charles Black, 1869. Hardcover. vg. Sm. 8vo. Three-quarter gold-lined leather over marbled boards with gold decorated spine. Top edge gilt. Raised bands. Ex-libris of Harry B. Koch on inside of front board. Beautiful publication of the memoirs of Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832), the Scottish historical novelist and poet, who wrote famous works like Ivanhoe, Rob Roy & Waverley. As his fame grew he was granted the title of (1st) baronet, becoming Sir Walter Scott. Each volume with frontispiece-engraving and individual engraved half-title page, protected by tissue-guard. Title-pages with decorative red and black initials. Vol. I with 84 page "Memoir of the early life of Sir Walter Scott, written by Himself." Minor age wear, scuffing and minor staining on binding. Head and tail of spines on few volumes chipped. Sporadic staining on front and rear endpapers, minor foxing to few pages. Slight spotting on page fore-and bottom page edges. Complete ten volume set, tight copies in overall very good condition.
