First edition, complete with 9 engraved plates, two volumes, 8vo., pp.392;vii,498, paper-covered boards with contrasting spines; owner’s bookplate to front paste-down endpaper (vol.I), 4pp. of contemporary owner’s inked notes tipped in to beginning of vol.I, also pencilled notes to end blank in both volumes, and occasional underlining/marginal marking in pencil to text, some staining to plates, contents o.w clean and bright, prelim blank working loose from vol.II, superficial paper-cracking to inner hinges, and gutter occasionally visible between leaves, significant wear to spines, with matt clear tape reinforcement, marking to boards, a sound working copy.
