His linguistic achievements and his collecting are startling as is his 19th Century racism but it is a utterly remarkable widow into a American mind that was a mythic in its thought as the Mayans he visits. Great painter of pictures with his words that he travels to Guatemala seventeen miles from a train just to collect myths. Very good shape NOT a library. NO underlines.
