Publisher's green textured cloth, decoratively titled in gilt on spine and front cover; [1]-455,[9 (ads)] + 604pp; portrait frontispiece; fifteen folding maps, five unnumbered leaves of plates (steel engravings). Mild wear, with text blocks very slightly shaken; hairline cracks to extremities of all four hinges (internal), but holding strong; text complete, tight and unmarked with all maps and plates present and in fine condition. Printed bookplate of a previous owner ("I.S.F. Dodd") to front pastedown of each volume.
