Paris: Librarie Hachette, 1879. Book. Very Good. Quarter Leather. Nouvelle Edition. Small 4to (15 x 23cm). 1879-1901; vols 1-15. An attractive set uniformly bound in quater red morocco with red cloth boards, gilt lettering and decoration to the spines which have 5 raised bands. Bindings generally very good with a little general wear and rubbing to extremities and joints, a few volumes very slightly chipped at the head/tail of the spine and few with partial cracks at the head/tail of the joints, but all volumes remain strongly bound with boards fimly attached, vol. VIII has had the front joint inconspicuously repaired/strengthened with japanese paper. Top edge gilt, original marbled endpapers inred and gold. Contents clean and tight, previous owner's neat gift inscription to the front blank in vol. I dated 1901, library bookplates to the front paste-downs otherwise ummarked, but for a few pencil marks, occasionaly scattered spotting. A very good set in attractive uniform bindings...
