Philadelphia: Henry C. Lea, 1874. Hardcover. Good. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. Quarto. 1131, (32) pages. Hardcover bound in full tan leather with black label pastedowns on spine. The binding is worn and shows scuff marks and general soiling. In places the scuff marks are down to the board. Headcap has a notable tear and is chipping, and the black leather label on the spine is cracked and chipped. Top edge of front and rear boards are quite scuffed and rubbed but the outside hinges are generally secure. Spine is scuffed. Front gutter is mostly broken between the Title Page and the Preface and is connected to the text block by one cord. Rear gutter is loosening. Text is toned with occasional smudging. The bottom edge of a few pages towards the rear are bumped and creased and has some edge tears.
