With frontispiece piece plate, folding coloured map, illustrations throughout, head and tail-pieces. Bound in full polished tree calf with gilt Stanmore Park armourial centrepiece and foliate gilt borders; gilt rolled board edges; five raised spine bands with gilt floral ornaments to spine compartments; blue marbled fore-edges and endpapers. Very light surface scratches to upper board, light scattered foxing to front and back leaves, with 1910 printed presentation label completed in ink, to front paste-down. A really superbly bright, near fine copy. Handsomely bound prize copy of this illustrated ethnographic study of the ancient Zorocastian beliefs and rituals by self-taught female historian Zenaide A. Ragozin. Awarded and signed by headmaster Vernon Royle, the retired First class England cricketer generally regarded as the "greatest cover point of all time".
