23.5 cm x 16 cm, pink cloth boards backed in violet cloth, pp. [xxxii], 312. Signed presentation inscription: from McLuhan to Kurt Swinton, dated in the year of publication. Swinton was a Canadian publishing figure who worked for The Encyclopedia Brittanica. Includes contributions by Susan Sontag, Tom Wolfe, Frank Kermode, A. Alvarez, Raymond Williams, Christopher Ricks, George Steiner, Harley Parker, and others. Swinton's attractive bookplate opposite half title, else near fine, in a sun-faded dust jacket, with a fingernail sized chip to the head of the spine, and some light edge wear.
